Latest Shocking Sports News: Tim Krul completes remarkable transformation and now looking forward to Newcastle United reunion

Tim Krul is back.
The Dutch keeper forced out of Newcastle back in 2016 by Rafa Benitez, who preferred to bring in Matz Sels.
Tim Krul now having played every single minute of every match this season, with Norwich City confirming promotion on Saturday.
A 2-1 win over Blackburn was enough and a point from their final game will guarantee them to be champions as well.
Sheffield United taking the other automatic spot as well on Saturday, with a 2-0 victory over Ipswich.
The last ever NUFC game for Tim Krul proved to be the 6-1 hammering at Man City after Mitrovic had put Newcastle ahead in October 2015, a dramatic collapse by those in front of him pointing possibly towards why that season proved to be a relegation one.
Tim Krul went away on international duty after that match and never played for Newcastle again, by the time he recovered from a serious ACL injury picked up playing for Holland, Rafa Benitez had decided for whatever reasons he didn’t want the Dutch keeper and instead brought in Matz Sels.
Disastrous/average loan spells at Ajax and AZ followed, before he was then allowed to join Brighton on loan in summer 2017, a move which quickly became permanent on a year long deal.
However, new Brighton number one Matthew Ryan proved to be their player of the season and never missed a Premier League match, Tim Krul says Chris Hughton then told him (see below) that he had to leave for the sake of his career as he should be a number one.
A remarkable story has now unfolded this season at Norwich City.
What makes it so remarkable is that Norwich are now in the third and final year of their parachute payments, with by far the lowest payment in this third season, meaning they were forced to make a £30m net profit on transfers in the summer and had to rely on loans, cheap buys and free transfers such as Tim Krul.
Earlier this month Tim Krul turned 31 and now he will be waiting eagerly for mid-June when the Premier League fixtures will be released.
No doubt his first look will be to see when he will be returning to St James Park but with Norwich.
Another former Newcastle player is part of the Norwich promotion squad.
However, has has played only 45 minutes more this season than he did in Newcastle’s 2016/17 promotion campaign.
Grant Hanley started five and came on as a sub in another five for Newcastle, this season for Norwich it has been six starts and two sub appearances. His final start was on 2 September 2018 and since then he has sat on the bench 23 times, only called on twice.
Tim Krul talking to De Telegraaf at the start of February 2019:
“Brighton was a fantastic club, but my competitor Matthew Ryan did a great job. He was later also named Brighton player of the Season.
“The manager, Chris Hughton, then said to me: ‘Tim, you should not be a number two . You are thirty years old and just have to play.
“Norwich gave me that chance and so far makes everything that they promised at the beginning of the season. So far I’ve got everything done. Now I want to show that I can go back to the top again, back to the Premier League.
“It was a very tough and long drive to get back on track (after injury in October 2015 on international duty, when number one at Newcastle).
“(When loaned out by Rafa Benitez in 2016/17) At Ajax it was actually the same story as at Brighton. There was also a great keeper, André Onana. Then I went to AZ, but unfortunately that did not quite make what I had hoped for. I know that I came in there as a big name. But with all due respect: AZ does not win at Olympique Lyon. I made the choice for AZ to get back on top and still played 22 games in four months.
“I do not want to talk about that (Rafa Benitez telling Tim Krul he wasn’t wanted) anymore.
“They were twelve fantastic years at Newcastle.
“I had survived sixteen managers and if there is one trainer who prefers to set up his own Spanish goalkeeper…
“To be honest, I’m glad that I also made the switch to other clubs, because that’s how I found pleasure at Norwich.
“We have a fantastic team, with a mix between young and experience. I have confidence in my body again.
“It is true that I have gained more confidence in my body (now since the injury). I spent thirteen, fourteen months out of it. You have to go through that. Also mentally.
“Football is crazy, is not it? For twelve years you are in one club and suddenly you have three, four clubs in two years behind your name. But I am now happy in Norwich.”
