Latest Shocking Sports News: London Magpie Group present ‘Sliding Doors’

The latest podcast from the London Magpie Group, ‘The Outcast’, is now available.

The group has teamed up with allies at AshleyOut.com and members of other groups to help give fans a United voice in their pursuit of holding Mike Ashley to account.

The podcast aims to be unique in providing opportunities to gauge fan opinion, conduct valuable outreach among the fanbase and convey their ideas of inclusive protest against Mike Ashley.

The most recent podcast is the 5th episode and takes us back to interviews conducted with away fans at Chelsea earlier in the season, highlighting the similarities and differences to NUFC post-fakeover and a transfer window under scrutiny.

In previous podcasts including ‘live’ audio taken at London away games at Spurs and West Ham – important questions such as ‘Is it good enough?’ were asked of the transfer activity.

The interviews from our diverse fanbase have included Londoners, Tynesiders, Midlanders and an Irish fan over from Dublin, as we reach out to fellow supporters who may be looking for a means to air their views on the plight of the club.

As well as scathing takes on articles relating to the reemergence of the transfer policy by the group themselves – ‘If Rafa is allowed to walk into the sunset for the sake of a twice-failed transfer model then there is no greater show of a lack of ambition. None.’

This episode also wants NUFC fans and listeners to subscribe and send their voice messages, tweets and emails in answer to the questions of ‘What happens if Rafa goes?’ and conversely ‘What happens if he stays?’. The London Magpie Group have been holding regular meetings with members consisting of fans and exiled supporters frustrated with Ashley’s ownership and have carried out notable action outside the Newcastle owner’s flagship Oxford St, store and the London Stock exchange following Ashley’s appearance at Parliament – the same day the alleged takeover was announced in his Sky News appearance.

The group contend this may in part have been a way of distracting from an embarrassing showing before a parliamentary select committee, littered with quotes such as ‘people cheat, that’s what businesses do’ and inferring ‘accountants can make any answer you want them to.’

The group plan to continue seeking opportunities to challenge Ashley and his interests in the capital and believe the podcasts can be an enjoyable and effective method of sharing their message and encouraging engagement and debate.
