Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Influencers Matt and Abby Howard Are in 'Roommate Stage' With New Baby

Influencer couple Matt and Abby Howard have admittedly found it difficult to connect at times just one month after welcoming their rainbow baby, son Fischer.

“I feel like we’re more connected now than the past,” Matt, 27, began during the Wednesday, September 23, episode of the couple’s “Unplanned” podcast. “I also think the first postpartum experience was just wild; second one was even wilder because it just hit us and we didn’t know what we were doing and there were disagreements.”

He continued, “Then, I was so dumb and was like, ‘Hey how about because we’re authentic, let’s talk about our disagreement on the internet.’ Now I feel like we’re under a lot less stress, but it’s still hard, like, sometimes in the night we wake up … and it’s just sad because sometimes we’re like ships passing in the night.”

Matt and Abby, 27, welcomed sons Griffin and August in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Abby later gave birth to son Fischer in August after a previous miscarriage. (Abby suffered a pregnancy loss in 2025, naming her late daughter Emerson.)

Abby, for her part, pointed out that she and her husband often don’t fight — or even speak — during their middle-of-the-night feedings.

“I think that right now we are in a little bit of a roommate stage,” she acknowledged. “Sometimes Matt spoons me after a feeding, and I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’ Right now, I’m kind of pushing against that.”

According to Abby, her primary focus is on her children though she still tries to remind herself that she is “doing this alongside someone that [she] deeply” loves.

“Especially [in] the first six weeks, it is kind of a roommate stage,” she noted. “It’s, like, it’s all utility, right? I think that’s also romantic in another sense where you guys are fully a team, one unit, doing this big thing together. That in itself is special, and it’s only for a short amount of time.”

Despite the duo’s current roommate-like arrangement, Abby knows that she and Matt will be able to overcome the hurdles down the line.

“As we get past that six-week mark, we’re going to find ways to also prioritize our marriage,” she added. “It’s not like we’re not finding ways, like, we’re finding ways to get a meal together, we got brunch together.”

While Matt noted that Fischer did “third-wheel” his parents’ recent date, the time has allowed them to connect postpartum.

“Have we only been on two dates and one of them was a brunch date? Yes,” he added before Abby noted that the two outings have been “more than we probably did the previous times.”
