Miss Universe Fátima Bosch suddenly collapsed while riding a parade float.

Bosch attended the Fruit and Flower Festival in Ambato, Ecuador, on Sunday, February 15, and was seen standing and waving to the crowd. Bosch was wearing a mint-colored gown with a tiara on her head.

Bosch then appeared to hold a railing behind her before falling to the ground. She then stayed on her knees while a person came to speak with her. In videos of the moment shared online, the audience can be heard gasping as Bosch fell.

Miguel Ángel Martínez, the Miss Universe Organization’s Head of Communications, shared with People in a statement that Bosch “experienced a brief episode of lightheadedness after several hours of outdoor participation.”

“As a precaution, she was immediately assisted by her team and local medical personnel on site,” the statement read. “She remained conscious, was evaluated promptly, and recovered quickly. Out of an abundance of care, her schedule was adjusted to allow for appropriate rest and hydration. She is feeling well and expressed her sincere appreciation for the warmth and hospitality she received in Ecuador.”

Martínez continued, “Fátima is currently on her official international Miss Universe World Tour, which includes cultural, humanitarian, and community engagements across multiple countries. At every stop, we work in close coordination with local organizers and medical teams to ensure the safety and well-being of our titleholders.”

Martínez concluded by noting that the “health and security” of Miss Universe delegates remain the organization’s top priority.

Months before Sunday’s appearance, Bosch made headlines when she had a feud with pageant executive Nawat Itsaragrisil. In a 2025 pre-pageant ceremony, Itsaragrisil claimed that Bosch did not post about the pageant’s host country, Thailand, on social media and called her a “dumbhead.”

Itsaragrisil later apologized via Instagram, saying, “If anyone [was] feeling not good, if anyone [was] not comfortable. If anyone [was affected], I do apologize for everyone.”

Miss Universe Organization president Raul Rocha, however, criticized his actions and shared that he was dismissed from the pageant.

“I will not allow the values of respect and dignity toward women to be violated. Unfortunately, Nawat has forgotten the true meaning of what it means to be a genuine host,” Rocha said. “It means to demonstrate to all delegates of all countries that he, as a host, has the obligation to serve them, assist them and support them. And to ensure they have a unique life experience filled with kindness and courtesy.”

Bosch ultimately won the competition in November 2025. “Today I reaffirmed that what God has destined for you, neither envy stops it, nor destiny aborts it, nor luck changes it. Long live Christ the King ❤️ 🔥,” she wrote via Instagram, translated to English, after her victory.

After her win, rumors swirled that the competition was rigged in Bosch’s favor and that she was considering giving up the crown. Bosch, however, denied the idea that she would return the crown.

“Of course not,” Bosch said on Good Morning America in December 2025. “I will never step away from this crown. I’m not here for fame or modeling or searching for a husband. I’m here because God put a purpose on my heart. I have a mission and I will do that all the years, to serve others, to help.”
