Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Inside 'Southern Charm' Star Austen's Breakup From Audrey: What Went Wrong?
Austen Kroll is offering more insight into his split from Audrey Pratt.
“I found someone who just brought a level of peace into my life, which I just felt that I needed,” Austen, 38, said of his past relationship with Audrey during the Wednesday, December 3, episode of the “Chicks in the Office” podcast. “It honestly was so right for what I needed.”
Austen explained that there was a “normal conversation” about their “next move” before their split. The reality of the situation was that she would have moved in with Austen in Charleston, which he felt was the logical next step. However, things just didn’t work out in the end.
“That’s what made it so hard and so adult at the same time,” he explained. “Normally, you break up because something happens. That’s what made it all that harder.”
Southern Charm’s Austen and Audrey’s Relationship Timeline Pre-Split
While it’s unclear exactly when they broke up, Austen hinted at relationship issues during a July appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. When the Southern Charm season 11 trailer dropped in October, it was apparent he and Austen were no longer together, which he confirmed the following month.
Southern Charm season 11, which is currently airing, doesn’t primarily feature Austen and Audrey’s relationship since the two had a long distance relationship. But, viewers will get to see a glimpse of how things ended between them as new episodes debut.
The season’s trailer teased Austen hooking up with costar Salley Carson following his split from Audrey.
Initially, Austen stayed tight-lipped about their split. Now that the fan-favorite Bravo show is officially airing, Austen isn’t holding back when it comes to sharing details about his breakup.

Seeing It on the Show
Austen and Audrey’s relationship is seen on Southern Charm season 11, since the two were still together while filming.
“It was good and all was fine. Then, not to blame it completely on this whole process that we’re in, but it forces the narrative,” he said of the show. “It accelerates your life by like, 10 months, right? It’s like, we need to know answers. We need to know now. You think that you’re being vulnerable, but what you’re really doing is kind of providing a chink in the armor for other people to feed off of. That’s what happened.”
Clarifying Their Long Distance Relationship
Austen addressed a comment made during his confessional about seeing Audrey “three to five times a month,” on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast episode.
“What I meant by that was three to five times at three to five days per time,” he said. “She would come on a Wednesday, and then, she’d work from home at my house on Thursday [and] Friday. On Sunday, it was always like, ‘Stay.’”

Things were “good with us,” Austen explained.
“I was not like, ‘Shoo, shoo,’” he added. “All that I was saying was that when the time came, it was nice to sit on my couch solo. … We really did make an effort to see each other as often as possible.”
The Split Was Not Filmed
Austen said he gave Audrey the “grace” of not filming their breakup for the show.
“You will hear this all, coming later,” he teased, noting that the show had nothing to do with it because Audrey was “always down” to film when she was in town.
What Went Wrong?
Nothing bad happened to cause the split, Austen confirmed.
“I’ve never done it in this manner,” he said. “I’ve never broken up with somebody in the manner that [we did].”
