News broke on January 4 that Aubrey Plaza’s estranged husband, Jeff Baena, died one day earlier at the age of 47. Per medical examiner records viewed by Us Weekly, Baena died by suicide.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” Plaza’s rep said in a statement to Us on January 6 on behalf of the actress and her family. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.” (It was revealed on March 19 that Plaza and Baena had been separated for four months at the time of his death.)
Days after Baena’s death, manager Simon Jones shared that RuPaul’s Drag Race star James Lee Williams — better known as The Vivienne — died at age 32.
“James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person,” the publicist shared in an Instagram statement on January 5. “Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career. We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James’s family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.”
The next day, authorities confirmed that the beloved drag queen’s death had “no suspicious circumstances.” Williams’ family confirmed to BBC News on March 17 that the reality star’s cause of death was cardiac arrest caused by ketamine use.

Dylan Grant
The professional bull rider died on April 3, after suffering injuries at the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event in Wharton, Texas. “The PRCA would like to send its thoughts and prayers to bull rider Dylan Grant’s family, friends and the entire rodeo/bull riding community after Grant passed away after suffering injuries Thursday night,” the PRCA wrote in a statement. “Grant sustained an injury in the second round at the Wharton County event after being bucked off by a bull in the arena.” Grant is survived by his parents, Wade and Tiffany.
Dean Wells
The Carolina Panthers alum died on April 3 at 54 after a two-year battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in early 2023.
Val Kilmer
The actor best known for his roles in Top Gun and Batman Forever died at the age of 65 from pneumonia, his daughter, Mercedes, confirmed to The New York Times on April 1. Kilmer battled throat cancer and sustained permanent vocal cord damage after undergoing a tracheostomy surgery. He was shown using a breathing tube in the 2021 documentary about his life, Val. Along with Mercedes Kilmer is survived by his son, Jack, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Joanne Whalley.
Young Scooter
The rapper died on March 28, which was his 39th birthday, after a reported leg injury. “Street, you had [me] crying before my show,” Waka Flocka Flame, who signed Scooter to his record label, wrote via his Instagram Stories several hours later. “You the f***ing backbone. Damn brada.”
Mama Mary Schmucker
Breaking Amish alum, Mama Mary Schmucker, died on Friday, March 28 following cancer complications, according to TMZ. She was 65. The reality TV star was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022 and moved to a hospice in November 2024 after her health condition worsened.
Berkin Usta
The Turkish Olympian, who competed in the slalom and giant slalom events at the 2022 games, died during a hotel fire on March 28. He was 24. “We have learned with deep sorrow that our national skier Berkin Usta, who represented our country at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games and the Erzurum 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, and his father, former national skier Yahya Usta, passed away due to a hotel fire in Uludağ, Bursa,” Team Turkey wrote via X. “We wish God’s mercy to our national skier Berkin Usta and his father Yahya Usta, and offer our condolences to his family, loved ones and the sports community.” Yayha was 57.
L.J. Smith
The author, known for writing the Vampire Diaries series, died "peacefully" on March 8, per an obituary shared online. She was 66 years old. "Lisa was a kind and gentle soul, whose brilliance, creativity, resilience and empathy, illuminated the lives of her family, friends and fans alike," the obituary read. "She will be remembered for her imaginative spirit, her pioneering role in supernatural fiction, and her generosity, warmth and heart, both on and off the page."
Cindyana Santangelo
The Married … With Children alum died on March 24. She was 58. “My heart aches as I write this. I’m still in shock and disbelief. How can you be gone??? I will feel your presence in every crashing wave, every salty breeze and every shimmering reflection of the sun on the ocean’s surface,” her friend Cynthia Banuelos wrote via Instagram on March 25. “You were my best friend, my wifey, my kindred spirit. The most gorgeous mermaid in human form. Forever drawn to the sea.” She added, “Though you are no longer here in the way I wish you could be, I know you’re swimming in eternal waters, watching over us with that radiant smile. Every seashell I find, every wave that kisses the shore, will be a reminder that your love is still all around me.”
Larry Tamblyn
The founding member of the band The Standells — who is also the brother of actor Russ Tamblyn and uncle to actress Amber Tamblyn — died at age 82 on March 21. “Sad news to announce tonight. Larry has passed away,” the band wrote via Facebook on March 22. “Feel free to leave your messages. More information will be coming.” Tamblyn’s cause of death was not revealed at the time. The band paid tribute to the musician in a follow-up Facebook post, writing, “In life, we are given two dates. Our start date and our end date. In the middle there is a dash. Judging from the overwhelming show of love and support to Larry's memory and that of his family, Larry made the very most of his dash. RIP Boss.”
George Foreman
Boxing champion George Foreman died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, March 21. He was 76. His family confirmed the news the same day, describing him in an Instagram tribute as “a devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather.” They added, “He lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.”
Jack Lilley
The Little House on the Prairie character actor, who was also a stuntman on various western dramas, died at the age of 91. “The Little House family has lost one of our own. Jack Lilley has passed away,” former costar Melissa Gilbert wrote via Instagram on March 21. “He also happened to be one of my favorite people on the planet. He taught me how to ride a horse when I was just a wee little thing. He was so patient with me. He never said no when I would bound up to him squealing, ‘Can we go ride? Please, please, please?’”
Jan Schwieterman
The actor, best known for his role in the 1997 film Good Burger, died at age 52 on February 28. Schwieterman’s brother, Chad, confirmed the news in a March 1 Facebook post, writing, “He recently found out he had an aggressive form of stage 4 cancer and passed yesterday evening. Mark Dobies
The One Life to Live and Guiding Light alum died at age 65 in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, on March 11. “A loving father, accomplished athlete, and talented actor, Mark lived a life full of passion, perseverance, and love,” a local obituary for the actor read. Dobies’ cause of death was not revealed at the time.
Jesse Colin Young
The founder and lead singer of the Youngbloods died on March 16. Young’s manager confirmed the musician’s death to Rolling Stone. TMZ reported that paramedics responded to a call at Young’s home in South Carolina. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Aiken County Coroner's Office later confirmed to People that Young died from "complications of cardiac, atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease" and that the manner of death was natural.
Emilie Dequenne
The French actress died of a rare form of cancer on March 16, her agent said. She was 43. Dequenne announced in October 2023 that she had been diagnosed with adrenocortical carcinoma, which affects the adrenal gland. Dequenne won the best actress prize at the Cannes Film Festival for her performance in 1999's Rosetta.
Wings Hauser
Hauser died on March 15 at the age of 78. His wife, Cali Lili Hauser, confirmed the news five days later. The Young and the Restless actor is survived by his son, Yellowstone actor Cole Hauser, and daughter, Bright Hauser, from two prior relationships.

A case detail from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner viewed by Us states that the YouTuber, whose real name was Philip Enewally, was found dead in a mail room on March 14. He was 26. Enewally’s mother reportedly confirmed his death to TMZ on March 15, asking that the family’s privacy be respected. Enewally had nearly 4 million YouTube subscribers and was known for his gaming videos — in which he played NBA 2K and Fortnite — as well as vlogs and pranks.
Doug Kiker
Kiker’s sisters confirmed via Facebook on March 12 that the American Idol season 18 alum died at the age of 32. “Today, I got the call that no one wants to get. We lost an amazing person today. He had the biggest smile and knew how to make you laugh,” his sister Donna wrote via Facebook. “I know I didn’t raise him, but I never stopped loving him. My parents did an amazing job with him. Douglas Kiker, you will forever be missed. Fly high. Say hey to grandma.”
Valeria Mireles
The Mexican influencer died after a reported car accident on March 10. She was 20. “Valeria was more than a rodeo queen; she was an ambassador of cowboy culture, an inspiration to many young women,” the Mexican Rodeo Federation wrote in a Facebook statement. “Her smile lit up every arena, and her passion for rodeo was contagious. Although her passing leaves a void, her legacy will live on in our hearts and in the memory of rodeo.”
Wheesung
The K-pop singer was found dead in his home in Seoul on March 10, according to local police. His agency, Tajoy Entertainment, confirmed his death in a statement, saying, “Wheesung has left us. He was found in cardiac arrest at his home in Seoul and was pronounced deceased.” Police noted there were no signs of forced entry or foul play and have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service. The star was 43.
Alysha Burney
The YouTube and TikTok star died on March 2 while vacationing in Mexico with family to celebrate her 25th birthday. “I come with great sadness that my little sister Alysha Burney has passed. PLEASE allow our family time to grieve during this time,” her brother Charles Burney wrote via Instagram on March 10. “It is extremely difficult seeing all of the false narratives trying to defame her legacy and we are ready to take legal action for those continuing to spread false information regarding her passing. Fisher-Becker, known for his roles in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Doctor Who, died on Sunday, March 9. He was 63. The British actor’s husband confirmed Fisher-Becker’s passing via Facebook on Monday, March 10. “Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon's husband,” he wrote. “I have some very sad news. At 2:50 this afternoon Simon passed away. I'll be keeping this account open for a while. I'm not sure at this point if I'll be posting again. Thank you.” Fisher-Becker appeared in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone as the Hufflepuff house ghost Fat Friar, as well as three episodes of Doctor Who alongside Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor. “Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing,” his manager Kim Barry said in a statement to the Daily Mail. “I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Maldovar in BBC’s Doctor Who.” Barry added, “Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker. The YouTube star was taken off life support on March 4, one month after sustaining a traumatic brain injury from a car accident. He was 36.
Angie Stone
Stone’s publicist, Yvonne Forbes, confirmed to CNN that the Grammy-nominated musician had died in a car crash in the early morning of March 1 after a performance in Montgomery, Alabama. She was 63. “Angie Stone’s voice and spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched,” a statement from Stone’s spokeswoman read, per the outlet. “Details regarding memorial services will be announced by the family in due course.” Stone was a veteran R&B artist and member of the all-female hip hop trio The Sequence from 1979 to 1985. She embarked on her solo career in the late 1990s and dropped her debut album Black Diamond in 1999.
Luke ‘The Dingo’ Trembath
The Australian snowboarder died at age 38. Trembath's death was announced on February 28 by his sponsor, Monster Energy. They did not disclose the cause of death. “Our Dingo. David Johansen
The New York Dolls founder died on February 28 at the age of 75. “David Johansen died at home in NYC on Friday afternoon holding hands with his wife Mara Hennessey and daughter Leah, surrounded by music, flowers and love,” a spokesperson for the musician told Rolling Stone in a March 1 statement. “He was 75 years old and died of natural causes after nearly a decade of illness.” Johansen previously battled stage four cancer and a brain tumor.
Gene Hackman
Gene Hackman, his wife Betsy Arakawa, and their dog were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday, February 26, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office confirmed to Us Weekly. “On February 26, 2025, at approximately 1:45 p.m., Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an address on Old Sunset Trail in Hyde Park where Gene Hackman, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, and a dog were found deceased,” the sheriff’s office told Us in a statement. “Foul play is not suspected as a factor in those deaths at this time, however, [the] exact cause of death has not been determined. This is an active and ongoing investigation by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office,” the statement continued.

Police sources confirmed to Us on February 26 that the Gossip Girl actress was found unconscious in her New York City apartment. A cause of death was not immediately apparent. She was 39.

News broke on February 24 that the Grammy-winning singer, whose work included “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Killing Me Softly With His Song,” died at the age of 88. The social media star reportedly died in February when her car crashed into a stationary tanker on a Turkish street. Özmen was 24.
Alice Hirson
The actress best known for her roles on the soap opera Dallas and as Ellen DeGeneres’ mom on the sitcom, Ellen, died at age 95 on February 14. Her son, David Hirson, confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter on February 20, revealing that she died of natural causes at Motion Picture & Television Country House and Hospital in Woodland Hills, California, where she had resided for around a year.
Marshall Rose
News broke on February 17 that Candice Bergen’s husband died at age 88 two days prior. According to his New York Times obituary, Rose “died peacefully at home in the early hours of February 15th, surrounded by loved ones.” He died as a result of “complications with Parkinson's disease,” and is survived by Bergen, three children and six grandchildren.
Paquita la del Barrio

Kevyn Major Howard
Howard, best known for playing Rafterman in Full Metal Jacket, has died. He was 69. His family confirmed his passing in a Las Vegas hospital to TMZ on February 14. Per the outlet, the actor had been hospitalized for respiratory issues in the weeks leading up to his death. He is survived by wife Tiffanie and stepdaughter Kayla, as well as sister Kim and brother Kelsey.

The Irish boxer died in February at the age of 28 less than one week after sustaining a head injury in a title fight. “It is with complete devastation that we have to announce that after a week of battling for his life John Cooney has sadly passed away,” Cooney’s boxing promoter, Mark Dunlop, wrote via Facebook on February 8. “Mr and Mrs Cooney and [John’s] fiancée, Emmaleen [Maher], would like to thank the staff at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital who have worked tirelessly to save John’s life and for everyone who has sent messages of support and prayers.” Dunlop added, “He was a much-loved son, brother and partner and it will take us all a lifetime to forget how special he was. Magnolia Network’s Maine Cabin Masters announced on February 5 that Ginna, who is married to star Matt “Dixie” Dix, died at the age of 48. “We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of Ginna Dix on February 1, 2025,” an Instagram statement read. “Beloved wife of Dixie, God Daughter to Ryan's parents and friend to so many. Ginna was a huge part of the Maine Cabin Masters family and will be missed tremendously.” The statement concluded, “We thank you all for your love and support, but ask that you give the Maine Cabin Masters team privacy at this time.”
Howard Twilley
The Miami Dolphins alum died at the age of 81. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tulsa Football Legend and Hall of Famer, Howard Twilley,” his alma mater wrote via X on February 6. “Twilley was one of the greatest receivers in College Football history, setting numerous NCAA records before venturing to the NFL and winning two Super Bowls. Our hearts and sympathies are with Twilley's family and his many friends.”

The influencer reportedly died on February 5 after suffering septic shock from a fallopian tube infection. The figure skating legend died at age 95 on January 30, just one day after several U.S, figure skaters, coaches and their families died in a Washington, D.C. plane collision with an army helicopter. U.S. Figure Skating confirmed his death in a statement via their website. He is survived by his partner, Dennis Grimaldi, and his two children, Edward and Emily, whom he shared with his late ex-wife Slavka Kohout. Button made history as the first American figure skater to win an Olympic gold medal and famously spent over five decades as a broadcast figure skating analyst.
Marianne Faithfull
The “As Tears Go By” singer died on January 30 at the age of 78. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull,” a statement shared with the BBC read. “Marianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. The rapper (real name Anthony Platt) died at the age of 43. “It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of a true ATL legend, Anthony Platt better known as DJ Unk,” his former record label wrote in a January 24 statement. “On behalf of Big Oomp Records and the BOR Family, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the countless fans who were touched by his artistry and spirit.” The statement continued, “DJ Unk was not just a legendary DJ, rapper and producer, but a true cornerstone of our label and the imprint that he left globally will be cherished forever.” He is survived by his wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, and their children.

The last surviving member of The Band died on January 21. He was 87. Hudson — who played keyboard, saxophone, accordion and the organ for the Canadian rock group — died in Woodstock, New York, while sleeping at a nursing home, his estate executor told The Toronto Star.
John Sykes
Sykes’ team announced his death on January 20 via Facebook, revealing that after a battle with cancer he passed away. The guitarist was 65. Sykes was best known for playing with Thin Lizzy in the 1980s and Whitesnake. He also had a solo career, releasing his last album in 2004.
Claire van Kampen
Mark Rylance announced the death of his wife, Claire van Kampen, on Saturday, January 18 — his birthday. “Claire has died of cancer on Mark Rylance’s 65th Birthday. Her youngest daughter having died in 2012, she leaves her eldest daughter, Juliet Rylance, her two husbands, and countless beloved friends in England and America,” a statement shared by the family read. “We thank her for imbuing our lives with her magic, music, laughter, and love,” they added.

Montgomery died in Nashville on January 15. The country singer was 86. Montgomery was best known for her duets with George Jones, Gene Pitney and more, topping the charts from 1963 to 1986. The late musician is survived by four daughters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Jaws 2 and Supergirl director died at age 85. “Today, we say goodbye to a true visionary. Jeannot Szwarc was not just a brilliant director but a kind and generous soul,” actress Jane Seymour wrote via Instagram on January 15. “He gifted us many timeless stories, including Somewhere in Time, a film that changed my life forever. Representatives for Danan confirmed his death at age 46 on January 16, writing via Instagram, “It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of Paul Danan at just 46 years old. Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many. His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him." A cause of death was not revealed in the statement from Independent Creative Management: “During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time."
Leslie Charleson
General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed Charleson’s death via Instagram on January 12. She was 79. “It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my dear friend and colleague, Leslie Charleson,” Valentini captioned a post shared by the show's official account. “Her enduring legacy has spanned nearly 50 years on General Hospital alone and, just as Monica was the heart of the Quartermaines, Leslie was a beloved matriarch of the entire cast and crew.” He continued, “I will miss our daily chats, her quick wit and incredible presence on set. On behalf of everyone at General Hospital, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to her loved ones during this difficult time.” Charleson was the soap opera’s longest-tenured cast member, playing the character Monica Quartermaine for over 45 years.

The pitcher, who played for both the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago Cubs throughout his MLB career, died at age 37. "A staple in our clubhouse from 2009-2016, Brian was beloved throughout Birdland, and his passion for baseball and our community was unmatched. TikTok star Chris O'Donnell, best known as Creeohdee, died at the age of 31 on January 11, according to his online obituary. O'Donnell was best known for posting fitness videos on both TikTok and Instagram.
Irv Gotti
The music mogul, who cofounded Murder Inc. Records and worked with artists including Jennifer Lopez, Ja Rule and Ashanti, died at age 54 on February 5. He had struggled with diabetes for years and suffered a stroke in 2024.
