Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Demi-Leigh Tebow Isn't Sure She'll Teach Her Daughter Afrikaans
Demi-Leigh Tebow and her husband, football star Tim Tebow, have a baby girl on the way — but it sounds like the duo still have plenty of things to figure out before she arrives.
While speaking exclusively to Us Weekly about her upcoming children’s book Princess Paris Finds Her Purpose (released on April 1), Demi-Leigh revealed that she isn’t sure she will teach the pair’s daughter how to speak her native language, Afrikaans, because her husband Tim doesn’t speak it well.
“So my first language is actually Afrikaans, which sounds a little Dutch German, but Tim doesn’t speak Afrikaans,” she explained. “And so I definitely… it’s such a big part I feel like of our culture too, the way that we express ourselves. Tim’s picked up on some of the important phrases so he can, I mean, he can’t hold his own completely, but he can pick up.”
Demi-Leigh added that “the grandparents” might have different opinions on the topic. “I definitely want to teach her some words, but I think it would be sad to have a conversation with her and not have Tim be included. So I think that’s something I’m cognizant of,” she continued.

That international background is likely to result in plenty of passport stamps for their baby once she arrives — something Demi-Leigh is already thinking about. “I had a baby shower very recently and one of my sweet friends gave me the cutest little pink passport hoIder,” she gushed.
“I can’t imagine leaving her,” Demi-Leigh continued. “So I mean, if I know how much I miss my dogs when I’m gone, I can’t even imagine with a child how you feel. And I think first and foremost, we’ll always want to do what’s best for her of course. And if that’s how she gets to come with us, that would be great. And if we need to stay home a little bit more, then that’s what we’ll do.”
Demi-Leigh’s children’s book, Princess Paris Finds Her Purpose, is based on her real-life Dalmatian of the same name, who goes on an “amazing” South African safari.
“But something tragic happens, she loses her crown and this crown is something that’s very important to her,” Demi-Leigh explained. “It’s something that she thought gave her worth, gave her purpose, and gave her value. When she loses it, she kind of questions, well, where is my purpose rooted in?”
The book also has a larger message, Demi-Leigh explained, adding, “My hope and my prayer is that this book will be a conversation starter, but specifically between moms and daughters on that value isn’t something we earn, it’s something that we already have.”

Demi-Leigh also shared that she wrote the book one year before learning she was pregnant. “So the timing is so sweet and so special, and the message in this book is something that’s so personal to me,” she said.
