Latest Shocking Celebrity News: Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Get Married in Front of Family and Friends in Mexico
Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens said "I do" - again! One week after the couple were legally married in a courthouse in Houston, they gathered all of their family and friends for a lavish ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on May 6. Per People, the couple exchanged handwritten vows in front around 140 guests.
Before walking down the aisle, both Biles and Owens shared snaps from their rehearsal dinner and wedding morning activities on their Instagram Stories. In one IG Story, the Olympic gymnast shared a snap of her father, Ronald Biles, wearing a shirt that read, "I loved her first," alongside his daughter's birthday. She also noted that it was a happy accident her wedding weekend happened to fall on Cinco de Mayo. "Our welcome party being on cinco de drinko in Mexico was the best thing to accidentally happen," she wrote.
When it came time for the actual wedding, the couple opted for gold and white decor. Meanwhile, over the course of the day, Biles wore four different dresses.
Prior to the wedding, she spoke exclusively to Vogue about why she was so passionate about getting married in a Galia Lahav dress. "When I started dress shopping, I was like, if I get married, it has to be a Galia Lahav," she said. "And so once I looked at the dresses, I was like, this is definitely my style. I like the sheer, I like how it fits, and then the little pearl details, I love the pearls. If there's something else I wanted at my wedding, it's flowers and pearls."
Biles and Owens first met on the Raya dating app in 2020 and instantly hit it off. The Houston Texans NFL safety officially popped the question in February 2022. At the time, Biles announced her engagement on Instagram, writing, "THE EASIEST YES. I can't wait to spend forever & ever with you, you're everything I dreamed of and more! let's get married FIANCÉ 💍🥺🥲🤎 @jowens_3."
