Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Amy Poehler Once 'Got Into a Fight' on a Plane for Being Loud Near a Baby
Amy Poehler once got into a verbal argument with a first-class plane passenger over Ana Gasteyer’s now-23-year-old daughter.
“I remember being on a plane with you [and] you got into a fight with a guy,” Gasteyer, 58, recalled on a recent episode of Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast. “Baby Frances was on the plane with us. The guy got mad that you were swearing in front of the baby.”
Mean Girls costars Poehler, 54, and Gasteyer were traveling in first class with Gasteyer’s daughter when a fellow passenger wasn’t pleased to hear the Parks and Recreation alum loudly use some choice words.
“It’s a long story, but what happened was a guy — a first-class guy, which we were in first class too — was like, ‘Excuse me, I’m trying to [rest]. You’re being too loud,’” Poehler recalled. “My Boston came out, let’s just say that.”

Gasteyer, meanwhile, thought the argument was “the best thing [she had] ever seen.”
Gasteyer filmed 2004’s Mean Girls with fellow Saturday Night Live alum Poehler less than one year after giving birth to Frances. Gasteyer played Cady’s (Lindsay Lohan) mother, while Poehler appeared as Regina’s (Rachel McAdams) mom. Mean Girls was written by SNL vet Tina Fey.
“I remember hanging out with you in that hotel one night and having drinks,” Gasteyer recalled on the “Good Hang” episode. “I have a memory of [Tina] sitting at the table on 17 and saying, ‘I think I’m going to try to option this book.’ It’s incredible.”
Gasteyer shares Frances and son Ulysses with her husband, Charlie McKittrick. After raising their kids in Los Angeles, the married couple relocated to New York City in 2023.
“I’ve been working in L.A. for 25 years and my husband was living here when we met, so it’s not totally foreign,” the comedic actress told Scary Mommy in a July 2023 profile of their move. “Culturally, they’re really different worlds. Night and day — and it’s been a big adjustment. It was hard for my teenager. Totally different everything.”

She continued, “New York City kids, as everyone knows, the reputation is that they’re very cosmopolitan and so forth, but a lot of it is just practical. [Kids] have a ton of autonomy early because they’re not in a car culture. They’re able to run to the market for you when they’re in sixth grade because the market is half a block away. Everything’s happening in such a condensed way. In Brooklyn, in our neighborhood, he’ll go play pickup ball, he can motivate himself differently than you can in L.A. It’s just not the same. You have to get in the car and drive them everywhere.”
Frances had already moved into college at the time, attending Northwestern University like her mom.
“We really value college in our family. I really wanted them to go to college and get an education,” Gasteyer recalled to the outlet. “So, [I’m] trying to put their focus on applying themselves towards their schoolwork and applying themselves toward making strong moral decisions.”
