Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Bachelorette's Michelle Young Was 'Severely Exposed' to Mold for 8 Months
Former Bachelorette Michelle Young cut her honeymoon short after she started to experience unexpected medical concerns.
“So many [of you] have asked about honeymoon photos. Jack [Leius] and I loved the time we got to spend in Venice and Positano,” Young, 32, wrote via her Instagram Story on Saturday, November 1, referring to her husband and their recent getaway in Italy. “Sadly, we had to end our trip seven days early because my health couldn’t keep up.”
She continued, “For the last eight months to a year, I’ve been battling with extreme fatigue, brain fog, panic attacks, heart palpitations, hypoglycemia and POTs-like symptoms. After a number of tests came back normal, we thought it could be stress and anxiety with the wedding.”
Young, who got married in June, ultimately found that her symptoms persisted months after the nuptials.
Celebrity Health Scares Through the Years
“Doctors haven’t been able to find anything until recently, getting the results of a Mycotoxin and Mold test showing I’ve been SEVERELY exposed,” she wrote on Saturday. “My body has been working hard to fight it all off.”
Young and Leius recently moved into a new house in their native Minneapolis as they also remain focused on the reality TV alum’s continued recovery.
“Thankfully, we did just move and know our new home is safe,” she said. “But, clearly [I] was exposed to something (many things) in the past few years. Now, [I am] having to do an intense detox, along with many medications and IV therapy to help my body get rid of everything.”
According to the schoolteacher, her detox process also includes a gluten- and dairy-free diet.
Young concluded her social media message with a note to fans asking to see her honeymoon photo album.
“I will share the few pics we have soon but didn’t get to capture as many memories as I would have liked since my health wasn’t holding up,” she said. “I also dislike posting things like, ‘Everything was/has been perfect’ since it sure hasn’t but also never want to add any negativity on the internet.”
Young concluded, “Anyways, hoping to get good health back soon and head back to Italy in the spring to ‘redo’ some of our honeymoon.”
Bachelorette's Michelle Young and Jack Leius' Relationship Timeline
Young and Leius have been together since fall 2023, meeting through a mutual friend.
“She has a good friend and her friend has a little brother, who I know,” Leius recalled during a January 2024 appearance on the “Almost Famous” podcast. “Her friend’s little brother posted Michelle in his [Instagram] Story and so I kinda just hit him up a couple times.”
Unbeknownst to Leius, Young had also asked her friend whether she knew of any eligible singles to date, who provided his name. (Young was briefly engaged to Nayte Olukoya after her season 18 of The Bachelorette.)
“I think we spent the next four days together,” Leius added at the time, recalling their first date. “And we were [officially] dating by Sunday.”
After one year of dating, Leius proposed to Young.
“Jack, he just calms my nervous system so much and he really puts my anxiety at bay,” Young gushed of her now-husband on the “Almost Famous” podcast in February. “It’s been really nice to just fully feel so comfortable in a relationship and so accepted and so loved. And he just is somebody who is always going to stick around.”
