Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Blake Lively's Family Supports Ryan Reynolds at Red Carpet While She Skips
Blake Lively knew exactly who to send to support her husband Ryan Reynolds when she couldn’t make it to the premiere of his latest film project: her entire family.
Reynolds, 48, was joined by Blake’s sisters Robin and Lori Lively, as well as her niece Kate Johnson, on the red carpet for the new documentary John Candy: I Like Me on Thursday, October 2. Reynolds is a co-producer on the film.
The documentary offers a special tribute to the late comedian and actor, who died on March 4, 1994, at age 43 of a heart attack. The premiere was also attended by Macaulay Culkin, Colin Hanks and Martin Short, who are all featured in the film.
Though Blake didn’t join her husband for the public appearance, she did take time on Friday, October 3, to celebrate the release of her friend Taylor Swift’s latest album The Life of Showgirl — even as the It Ends With Us star continues her legal battle against the film’s director and her costar, Justin Baldoni.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds Smile in NYC Amid Ongoing Legal Drama
Blake made sure to give Swift’s post announcing the album’s release a “like” via Instagram.
Her legal drama with Baldoni began back in December 2024, when she accused the director of sexual harassment and of organizing a smear campaign against her. Baldoni denied the allegations and filed a countersuit, which was dismissed in June 2025.
Blake’s lawsuit is still proceeding, and the pair are set to meet in court in March 2026. Baldoni’s team has also subpoenaed Swift, 35, who has denied having any involvement in the making of It Ends With Us.
“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” Swift’s representative said in a May 2025 statement to Us Weekly. “She did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”
Baldoni’s team withdrew the subpoena later that same month.
“We are pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm,” a statement from Lively’s team read at the time. “We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”
Unfortunately, the friendship between the two women appears to have been impacted by the legal back-and-forth.
“Although it was great news for Blake, she hasn’t rekindled her friendship with Taylor yet,” an insider explained to Us. “Taylor has not been in touch with Blake and still does not want to discuss anything to do with the lawsuit.”

Swift was pulled back into the pair’s legal fight nearly fourth months later after Baldoni’s team requested a deposition. In a letter sent to the judge in September 2025, the director’s legal team said Swift agreed to be deposed in October. Swift’s own legal team claimed the singer was “forced to” take part in the deposition. The judge later rejected Baldoni’s request for an extension to depose Swift.
