Matlock actor David Del Rio and his wife, Katherine Del Rio, have been together for 12 years.
“From when you said ‘yes’ to be my girlfriend 12 years ago… the ride continues,” David wrote via Instagram in July 2025, sharing a tribute to Katherine. “I love you, Flower Child.”
David and Katherine first crossed paths in 2010 when watched him perform in Broadway’s In the Heights in New York City, but the couple didn’t start dating until three years later.
David proposed to Katherine, an actor and chef, in 2017 at the Richard Rodgers theater in New York City — the same venue where In the Heights was initially performed. The pair tied the knot the next year, later welcoming two daughters together.

2010
Katherine’s family saw In the Heights on Broadway, in which David played Sonny.
“I had a little crush on him because I thought he was really good, funny and cute,” she recalled to Inside Edition in 2017, revealing she asked David for a selfie at the stagedoor. “I was obsessed with theater, especially musical theater.”
Three years later, Katherine went to a 2013 party in Los Angeles where David was hanging out with friends, and the pair ended up hitting it off.
“When he said he was from In the Heights, I said, ‘Could this be David Del Rio?’” Katherine recalled, remembering her teenage crush.
2017
After four years of dating, David brought Katherine back to the Richard Rodgers theater and popped the question.
“From where it all began to new beginnings. 7 years ago, Katie was in NYU while I was in In The Heights. It was that day her family won the ticket lottery, saw the show and we took a pic together outside the stage door,” David wrote via Instagram in March. “We officially met four years later and six months into our relationship she showed me this picture! Who knew I had met my fiancé seven years prior and would be proposing at that same stage door. I couldn’t be any more of the luckiest guy in the world to have @wallacekatie as my future bride.”
February 2018
David and Katherine tied the knot on February 4.
“So, there is a reason I haven’t posted anything in MONTHS is because I wanted to concentrate on two things without distraction, working on myself and on working towards this moment,” the Pitch Perfect star wrote via his Instagram several days later. “The happiest day of my life is saying I DO to my soulmate, partner, Mrs. Del Rio. Words cannot describe how happy I am to have you as my wife, @wallacekatie. To EVERYONE who helped us from small to big tasks, advice and your ATTENDANCE meant the absolute WORLD.”
December 2021
David marked his wife’s 31st birthday with a glowing social media tribute.
“From meeting a perfect stranger to being the perfect wife. I thank God every day for your grace, your quirkiness, your love for adventure, love for people and always keeping our home a Christian home,” he wrote on December 10. “I love you with all my heart, happiest of birthdays.”
June 2023
Katherine gave birth to the pair’s first child, daughter Lilliam “Lily” Kellie Wallace Del Rio III, on June 20.
“A month ago today our lives changed forever,” Katherine wrote via Instagram one month later. “Life has been a blissful, sleepless blur since then, and our little summer solstice baby has completely blown our minds in every way.”
January 2025
David and Katherine announced in July 2024 that they were expecting baby No. 2. Daughter Coco Del Rio arrived on January 20.
“Her big sister is completely obsessed with her, and we are indescribably elated and exhausted,” Katherine captioned an Instagram post in March. “Thank you, God, for your miracles.”
October 2025
Us Weekly confirmed that David was fired from CBS’ Matlock after being accused of sexual assault by costar Leah Lewis.
While David did not immediately address the allegations, Katherine claimed via her Instagram Stories that Lewis was “the most disturbing human being [she had] ever met.”
Lewis did not respond to Katherine’s claims, but said in a social media statement of her own that she was focused on healing in light of the alleged incident.
