Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Tina Turner's Son Ike Jr. Dead at 67 After Going Into Kidney Failure
The son of Tina and Ike Turner, Ike Turner Jr., has died. He was 67.
Tina’s niece Jacqueline Bullock told TMZ on Sunday, October 5, that Ike Jr. died in Los Angeles as a result of kidney failure. She also told the outlet that he had previously suffered “severe heart issues” for several years.
Bullock also issued a longer statement on her cousin’s death, which occurred one day after his birthday.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of my cousin, Ike Turner, Jr.,” she told Page Six on Sunday. “Junior’ was more than a cousin to me, but rather a brother, as we grew up in the same famed household together. As the son of Tina and Ike Turner, from an early age, his talents were evident as there wasn’t an instrument he did not want to play.”

Bullock continued, “While he favored the drums early on, my aunt and his mother, Tina Turner, insisted that he break down his drum kit after each practice. This led him to favor the keys. Eventually, Junior would end up helping to run Bolic Sound Studios, the recording studios founded by his father, Ike Turner.”
Bullock further praised Ike Jr.’s career.
“While he faced the same challenges that many of us have, he would become a sought after sound engineer, musician and Grammy winner for Best Traditional Blues Album in 2007 for his father’s ‘Risin’ With The Blues,’” she concluded.
Tina Turner's Cause of Death Revealed: Details
Ike Jr. was the son of Ike Sr. and ex-wife Lorraine Taylor, whom Tina eventually adopted when she married his father. Ike Jr. is predeceased by his parents. Ike Sr. died in 2007 after a fatal overdose at the age of 76. Tina, for her part, died in 2023 at the age of 83 after an undisclosed illness.
Tina and Ike Jr. also shared Michael, Craig and Ronnie. (Michael was also one of Ike Sr.’s children with Taylor.) Craig and Ronnie died in 2018 and 2022, respectively. Ronnie’s widow, Afida Turner, mourned her brother-in-law in a social media tribute on Sunday.
“REST IN PEACE IKE JR,” Afida wrote via Instagram using all-capital letters. “U WAS AMAZING BROTHER IN LAW I’M GLAD I SPEAK WITH U ON A PHONE BEFORE U GONE LOVE U RIP 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.”
Ike Jr. previously had a close relationship with Tina, calling her “the only mother [he’s] known” in a 2018 interview with The Mail on Sunday.
“I haven’t talked to my mother since God knows when — probably around 2000,” he told the outlet, referring to biological parent Taylor. “I don’t think any of my brothers have talked to her in a long time either.”
Tina and Ike Sr.’s marriage ended in 1978. She later married music executive Erwin Bach in 2013 and were together until her death.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner,” a May 2023 statement read. “With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.”
