Latest Shocking Entertainment News: Nessa Diab Says She and Colin Kaepernick Got Married 'Years Ago'
Nessa Diab has remained loyal to her longtime boyfriend, Colin Kaepernick, amid his various ups and downs in the public eye as an NFL star.
In 2016, the quarterback began peacefully protesting police brutality and systemic racism by kneeling during the national anthem. He subsequently became a controversial figure, with some defending the former San Francisco 49ers player for his right to protest while others criticized him for disrespecting the flag.
Diab, however, admired the activist nature of her now-longtime boyfriend. Although the Girl Code alum was first linked to Kaepernick in 2015, they didn’t officially confirm their relationship until February 2016 when they attended a charity function together, according to TMZ.
In 2017, the couple made their first red carpet outing at the TIME 100 Gala, where Kaepernick was honored. Five years later, the pair secretly welcomed their first child together.

February 2016
Though the duo was first linked in 2015, they didn’t officially confirm their relationship until February 2016 when they attended a charity function together to help children battling heart disease. The California native and her beau went on to be involved with other charities, founding the Know Your Rights Camp together that October. The organization “advances the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities and elevates the next generation of change leaders,” the website reads.
September 2016
The couple made their red carpet debut at the TIME 100 Gala where he was honored. The athlete shared a boomerang via Instagram of himself and Diab, marking the first time she appeared on his social media feed.
April 2017
“I’m very fortunate that I have Colin next to me,” Diab told TIME magazine after Kaepernick was honored as one of its 100 most influential people of the year. “It’s everything. We love each other, we care for each other and we have to remind each other that, hey, we’re doing our part, we’re trying to make a difference.”
November 2017
Diab made her feelings clear for Kaepernick when she paid tribute to him for GQ magazine after the outlet named him Citizen of the Year. “Colin has always been helping people, he has always been involved, because he has empathy,” she wrote in November 2017. “Empathy was a reason why he was adopted: His parents — two of their children had passed away from heart defects. It’s why he helped so many young children with heart defects get proper care — he’s been doing that for years.
February 2018
Kaepernick gushed over his girlfriend when she helped him out with his pledge to donate $1 million to charities that served underprivileged communities. “Words cannot express my gratitude for everything you’ve done with me,” he said in a video via Instagram in February 2018. “I look forward to what we will accomplish in the future together! I Love You, Queen!”
May 2019
The pair made their first Met Gala appearance together. “MET GALA 2019,” Kaepernick captioned a pic of their outfits via Instagram. “We pay homage to our ancestors with our looks inspired by Ghana and Egypt.” Diab stunned in a one-shoulder satin gold gown, while Kaepernick wore a long black tuxedo jacket with gold piping and numerous gold rings.
April 2020
Diab called out former president Donald Trump and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Twitter in April 2020 when it was announced that the president’s campaign was spending $10 million on a Super Bowl ad. A few months later, after a false report surfaced that the football player was signing with the New York Jets, his girlfriend encouraged him to go through with it. “Any team that actually wants to win should sign Colin,” she tweeted at the time.
October 2021
Though the couple mostly stayed out of the spotlight in 2021, they attended the premiere of his limited Netflix series, Colin in Black & White, that year.
August 2022
Diab broke the news that she and Kaepernick welcomed their first child. “I thought long and hard about sharing our life changing news today. I decided to do so because today is the first day in a few weeks where I stepped out for work with a new life title – MOM!” the TV host captioned an Instagram photo of her and her man holding the little one. Diab added: “Colin and I welcomed our amazing baby to the world a few weeks ago and we are over the moon with our growing family. Recovering after delivery has been a journey (more on that later) and honestly I wasn’t going to share anything because this is sooooo personal to us and I realized I’m a complete mama bear! Colin is the most amazing dad and I’m soooo grateful that he is by our side for every moment of this journey.”
October 2022
While sharing a motherhood update with fans via Instagram, Diab revealed, “Our baby is Colin’s TWWWWWIIINNN 🥰.” One month later, she praised her partner for being “THE GREATEST FATHER TO OUR BABY” in a sweet birthday post.
July 2025
Diab revealed in a July 2025 Instagram video that she and Kaepernick had quietly tied the knot. “For all the publications out there, do some research,” she said. “I’m not Colin’s girlfriend or roommate or whatever — I’m his wife.” However, the nuptials weren’t recent, as Diab clarified to TMZ Sports that they got married “years ago.”
